All’ Artista Silvano Crespi

2018 - The artists of the Sgarbi Collection

To the artist Silvano Crespi

I, more than other critics in Italy, have pushed myself to apply a method that in France has a long tradition in the Salons des
Refusés, in which it was possible to recognise, in less difficult and less "crowded" times, artists such as Manet and Gauguin.
Now I have seen thousands of proposals, knowing full well that just as many do not reveal themselves or have other, different
channels.
The history of a collection is the history of occasions, of encounters, of discoveries, it intersects with curiosity, research,
studies. The “Sgarbi Collection” project selects some of them, like a constellation in an ever-expanding firmament.
The right to exist for an artist means the possibility of leaving the solitary anonymity of his studio. To achieve this, a simple
exhibition is not enough, you also need someone authoritative who has the desire to discover its potential and take it under
their wing, capable of knowing how to describe to the public the essence of the message of each individual artist.
The choice of his work for my collection of prints and drawings attests to the value of his work and constant artistic commitment.
In an era marked by the attempt to assign a price to everything and everyone and a degree of usability on the market,
the art collection returns to being the means through which works regain their real value, without "price" and without time.
The works chosen are Summer Afternoon from 2005, oil on canvas cm. 50x60
and  Summer at the seaside 2005, oil on canvas m. 60x50.
