Art and the Mind

Everything I paint is everything I want to see again, remember, rethink in a single image. And then relive.

It's like a snapshot, a still image, a look from the window, from my favorite observation point, from a thought that analyzes and breaks down what is passing before the eyes or passing through the mind at that moment. The more time passes, the more sedimentation reaches heights that were previously unforeseeable. The angle of view changes, more and more open, more and more with a view from above. But not as a sensorial detachment or psychological distance but as a conscious involvement that seeks to embrace an ever more extensive reality, to be explored and separated from every detail, and then to merge the idea that emerges from it into that ideal mosaic which is the white canvas, such an object coveted as feared by many.

Because the beginning means contrast, indecision, held back passion, fear of nothingness, of the incipit. But at the end of the conceptual journey, when the dipped brush rests on that colorless expanse, the liberating gesture arrives and from that moment the whole work is before the eyes ready to be projected onto that golden surface in an almost perfect balance between form and substance.

L' Arte e l' Estetica

Art and Aesthetics

It can be said that the single work of art represents the relationship between the individual and the universal.

The work of art is completed when this synthesis occurs. Once again we try to bring time and eternity together. In the field of philosophy of art, this synthetic role is played by individual works of art. But they carry it out indefinitely, and they cannot carry it out definitively, but they carry it out only to the extent that they too, works of art, are subject to revisiting themselves, to always and in any case getting back into play over time. The semblance of art has the merit of giving something through itself and of hinting at something spiritual which must reach representation through itself. This value of art is not something that art has, it is not something that art possesses, but it is something that art does not have, but towards which it refers.

From this point of view, the importance and role of art is fundamental: "it indicates something through itself, it hints at something spiritual by itself, art possesses something spiritual by not possessing it". Art and the artist are aware of their illusory relationship with reality, that is, they are not deceived, they are aware of producing illusoriness. Ultimately, if art possesses something spiritual by not possessing it, the artist is aware of producing illusion in the work of art, and therefore the conscious production of illusion corresponds to the possession of the spiritual, which is not possessed.
